    COUSINS RELEASE DAY BASH!

    2015-08-20_2209

It’s Day Two and I’m getting antsy. I really want to continue finishing up my writing of Book Two of Cousins, but I’m bubbling over with excitement over the release of Book One. What’s a girl to do? That’s when I came up with this great idea to throw myself a release party.
Cousins actually releases on Amazon on Saturday August 22, but I’ll be too wired to actually have fun on that day. So I’m holding the party on Monday which is my favorite day of the week. Call me nerdy, but I love Mondays. Fresh start to the week and all that:)
Please make sure to confirm your attendance where we’ll have a little fun and I’ll give away prizes.

  • Day Three: Countdown To Cousins Release!

To all my old school, rather sniff a new book, readers– I played around with Createspace today and am in the process of making Cousins available as a paperback. While the reality is that most indie writers make their money with ebooks, I understand that for some feeling a book in your hands is as close to nirvana as you can get!
Check back here in a little while and I’ll post the url to the paperback purchase link. Right now it’s still under Amazon’s approval process. Here’s what my cover proof looks like though while you’re waiting:)

  • Day Five: Countdown To Cousins Release

Starting to get really excited about the release of Cousins. So excited that I had to go off the grid yesterday (Day Six) and get some writing done, plus I also fit in a little movie date with the hubby. I’m back online today, because I am part of my first Facebook Blog “Takeover” in celebration of author Julia Goda’s second book. I’ll be on Facebook playing a few games and giving away prizes at 10pm EST tonight.

  • Snapshot of The Average Reader In America

    america reader snapshot

Just wanted to share this demographic portrait of who is reading books in America and how they’re reading them. Really compelling study. I was surprised. Here’s the overall snapshot, but the article breaks things down even further. Read the full article here: http://www.pewinternet.org/2014/01/16/a-snapshot-of-reading-in-america-in-2013/

  • I’m An Official Goodreads Author!

    goodreads author profile

It took a little wrangling, but I finally was accepted into the Goodreads author program and my profile page along with my friends have now been converted into an author profile. I certainly feel official! Now I just have to go in and tweak my profile.

I was going to add my working book cover, but have been thinking about doing a “cover reveal” during my book promotion. So I changed my mind about that. My working cover looks pretty good and it may be the final cover.

How To Become A Goodreads Author

If you’re thinking about becoming a Goodreads author yourself, you MUST have a book to claim in order to be accepted. That means that you’ve already published a book or if you are planning on publishing soon, that you need to manually submit your book.

When you manually submit, you need to have a title, future publishing date, publisher’s name (optional), and any other details you may have such as a cover, ISBN, etc. Also make sure that your author name and your Goodreads profile name match up exactly. That’s where I ran into a little trouble and had to ask someone in support to help. Which they did in about 48 hours.

If you write books under several pen names, I’m not 100% how things work but when I did a little digging it seems that you need to create a profile/author page for each name that you write under.

For example erotica writer R.K. Lilley has an author profile page under that name and as well as her name Rebecca Lilley which she uses to write urban fantasy.

I also write my non-fiction under my real name (Lisa Angelettie) and use my pen name for my fiction (Lisa Lang Blakeney) and have two separate profiles for those names.
